This year the class of 2024 started high school, but quite unusually. None of the class members would’ve thought that they would start this journey at their houses, in their rooms. Starting high school is one of the biggest events in a kid’s life, one of the biggest changes. The movies and tv series that we watched before, all kind of prepared us fo high school and its reality but none of it involved zoom classes.
When asked about the situation, the majority of the class members said that they missed school and wanted to attend classes physically. It is very understandable to miss school at this point. However, some people in the freshmen class of GZAAT said that they were pretty delighted to hear the news about school starting virtually. This article is going to explain their reasoning. Maybe, there are some positive sides to this, after all.
Firstly, the survey conducted showed that the biggest appeal of the online regime is that it takes away less time from our sleep. Sleep has been a major problem for GZAAT ninth-graders even when they were in eighth grade (junior high). Everyone was constantly sleepy or even sleeping at school in the previous year. With online classes, students can get up later than usual and still be on time for classes. Although sometimes there are a few occasions that remind the academy students that lack of sleep is going to haunt them forever, and some students still don’t look like they had a good night’s rest, these minor incidents are inescapable.
Overall, most of us think that our desk can never substitute the Harkness table and our laptops will never be a better classroom. What we also know is that going to school is connected to a lot of risks and that we have to obey the school rules this time, for our own good. It is easier to look at this situation with an optimistic mindset, finding positive sides to this unfortunate situation.
P.S you can also always blame it on the internet.
