Christmas Gift Ideas in the Pandemic

2020 has been a tough year for everyone. With many ups and downs and we finally got to the end of the year. I am sure we are all excited about 2021 and the surprises it will bring us. One of the best traditions of Christmas is gift-giving and even though it is fun to receive them, getting your friends and family fun and creative gifts becomes harder every year. Now that we have to celebrate the New Year in a pandemic, it is even harder to buy presents for your loved ones since almost every shop in the city is closed. In this article, I am going to suggest some easy and cheap gift ideas that you can buy from online shops or just make by yourselves.

The first idea is the Christmas basket. All you have to do is get a basket and put some memorable gifts in there. Some of the best things that you can buy are fuzzy socks for the winter, Christmas themed blankets. You can also print some pictures of your favorite memories with the person you are giving this present to and finally, add a lot of snacks and chocolate to make their day even better.

Another great gift that anyone will enjoy is card or board games. These games are the kind of activities that you’ll never get bored with. There are a lot of games that you can get your friends and family but here are some of the favorites:

• Catan: In the game you are a settler trying to build settlements, and in order to do that, you will need to get your hands on some resources. You’ll have to set the board up with pentagon-shaped figures. You will put numbers on the figures and each of them represents a resource that you can get. Your goal is to get all the resources you need to expand your settlements and upgrade them to cities. To do so you can even trade with other players. To win the game you have to collect 10 points: settlements are 1 point, and cities are 2 points. The game lasts around 45-50 minutes and has a maximum of 5 players.

• Cards Against Humanity: This is a party game and you can have as many players as you want. There are two decks of cards in this game, the first deck is cards with fill-in-the-blank statements and the other deck is cards with funny phrases that you’ll be given at the start of the game. The purpose of this game is to match two cards from the two decks and have the funniest sentences. The winner of the game is declared at the end by the other players and it is the one that was the funniest throughout the game.

• Codenames: In the game, the players split into two teams, the red team, and the blue team. There is one player in the teams that are selected as the team’s spymaster, the spymaster will give you a hint-word and, in order to win, the rest of the teammates have to guess which codenames in a set are related to the word that was given to the team. One game lasts around 15-30 minutes, but playing it only one time won’t be enough.

If the gift recipient is into any type of music a perfect gift would be a poster or a vinyl of their favorite artist or a band. If you are trying to be even more creative, make them a CD playlist with their favorite songs, or the songs that remind you of some great memories you have together. You can write why you chose these songs and what they mean to you on the cover of the CD.

And finally, what better way to capture your favorite memories in 2021 than with disposable cameras. These kinds of photos are very trendy right now as the cameras create photos with a vintage “vibe”. This makes the moments even more unforgettable than they already are.
