COVID-19 had a huge impact on everyone’s jobs and caused many changes in our daily lives. A lot has changed for Eka Mas and Lana Mas as well; they had to get used to their new online working routine. Many problems appeared concerning the education of students in GZAAT and the school itself. Eka and Lana played a big role in coming up with effective solutions and new strategies to deal with this intense situation. I decided to interview Eka Tatishvili to gain more information and to hear her opinion about how she undertakes her new responsibilities.
Interviewer: How do you work in these conditions?
Eka Tatishvili: When we started dealing with COVID-19, from the very first day, we were able to get organized and overtake this situation. The quality of the education in GZAAT remains the same. Students attended school physically, now they just attend these classes online. Every day we take note of the students who don’t attend classes, the students who are late, and then we call these students and their parents. This is our number one priority. We have to know the reason why they missed classes and why they were late. We know that our task requires a lot of responsibility but we do this very enthusiastically.
Interviewer: Is there anything that you would change or don’t like?
Eka Tatishvili: I wish I could have physical contact with the kids. I miss your smiling faces that gave me positive vibes and motivated me throughout the day. To tell you the truth, I had a really hard time dealing with not seeing you guys every day. This office is like a living organism. Everything happens here.
Interviewer: Is it harder or easier to work online?
Eka Tatishvili: Surprisingly, the amount of work is doubled. I pay attention to every detail and by the end of the day, I share this information with the teachers. This is our main task. I join every class to check if students have their cameras on. Before COVID-19 I could just talk to the students about their attendance, but now I have to email and call them every time something problematic happens, and, believe me, it is a lot throughout the day. Lana and I decided to share our tasks equally. We had to know all the technical issues the students were facing and had to help them in any way we could. I think we already got used to living with COVID. We just need to be more close to you guys. I am always delighted to contact you, kids!
Eka and Lana are trying their best to keep students on track and help them in any possible way they can. We should be grateful for their hard work and motivation. I am sure we also miss seeing them at school ( maybe not in the office so much:) ). Soon we will have a chance to see each other again at school every day!
