“Invicta” is a website started by two GZAAT junior students, Mariam Beshidze and Ana Tvaladze, and worked up by a collaboration of many other volunteers from GZAAT and other schools, too. This website is part of the organization that Mariam and Ana founded which helps girls to self-realize, boost their self-confidence, and raise awareness about gender stereotypes. Invicta organizes meetings for girls where through open discussions and educational activities they help girls overcome the obstacles caused by gender stereotypes.

The website “Invicta” publishes articles about successful women and notions of feminism to raise awareness of gender equality in society, and inspire girls to use their full potential to achieve success. The website is made by Sal Mosiashvili and the articles are written by the participants of the project. For detailed information about Invita, we decided to interview the founders of the website, Mariam and Ana.
Interviewer: What does the name of the website mean? Why did you choose it?

Mariam: Invicta - in Greek it means « unconquered » or « undefeated ». It might sound a bit rebellious, but it’s not. In reality, it is connected to women and girl empowerment and conveys the idea that despite gender inequality, discrimination and stereotypes we women can still achieve success.
Interviewer: What is the purpose of the website? Why did you decide to make it?
Mariam: The purpose of the website is to raise awareness about gender stereotypes, discrimination and to empower young girls. We decided to make it because we saw this as an opportunity to reach more and more people and create a bigger community.
Interviewer: What is its content?
Ana: We are mostly publishing articles and information about feminism, gender stereotypes and are trying to raise awareness about the issue.
Interviewer: What is the process of working on the website? Have the participants divided the work? How? Does it take much time?
Ana: It took a lot of time and energy. Since I and Mariam don’t know much about web development Sal Mosiashvili was responsible for all the technical details. I and Mariam were giving ideas and of course, and we were considering all the ideas that our volunteers had.
Interviewer: What is the plan for the website for the future? Are you going to add something new?

Mariam: We are probably going to work on the website during the summer. Even though the website is ready, we still have to work on its content and visual side. We are planning to add some new features, possibly other new projects under Invicta and our audience will have the possibility to learn about them through our social media platforms and our website.
Gender inequality is something that some of the members of our community face daily, so we encourage GZAAT students to take part in the projects like Invicta that try to change this unfortunate situation for the better, so that people, in this case, women, do not have to face these obstacles in the future. If you would like to engage in this project, email either Ana or Mariam (atvaladze@aat.ge and mbeshidze@aat.ge)
