Online University Visits at GZAAT

Choosing the right college is a very complicated and hard task for every student. While selecting a university, students need to consider many details, like their interests, the classes and opportunities a university provides, as well as, class sizes, their flexibility and so on.

GZAAT always offers help to their students in making this difficult decision. 90% of GZAAT students continue studying abroad after graduation and college counseling plays a major role in this huge amount of success. Generally, meetings with parents and students start from sophomore year and continue till the end of Senior year, when students already have an idea of their future plans. Previously, college counseling and university visits occurred in person. However, during these hard times of pandemic choosing the right college is becoming more and more troublesome. Fortunately, numerous European and American universities planned to host virtual presentations especially for American Academy students. A few presentations took place during the past months and many more are still being added to the list.

Some students had previously attended these types of meetings and their experience revealed even more reasons to take this brilliant opportunity and take part in online college presentations. From the experiences of students we have collected opinions about presentations and advantages they pointed out. The most notable element for the majority was that these meetings were interactive. “My favourite part of the meeting was the Q&A as it allowed us to ask more detailed questions about the matters which were the most interesting or concerning to us,” says one of the juniors. Engagement allowed the audience for a more personalized delivery. After the presentation, students and parents were able to ask the presenters questions and further discuss some topics. In addition to that, the information given was mostly concentrated on Georgian students which was very helpful for them. Another valuable fragment of these sessions was the discussion about the connection of student life with academic life. The students’ daily activities and hobbies are directly related to their academic life, and, thus, should definitely be considered before applying and making a decision.

Overall, it is vividly clear that every student who plans to study abroad should engage in these types of activities, because they provide some interesting information, give us more insight about the university and help us get the feel of college life. Even during this pandemic, college counseling and university visits are successfully going on in an online format and GZAAT is trying its best to support the future graduates.
