It is essential to go out once in a while, go for a hike, take a break from social media, communicate and socialize with people, and have fun at the same time. This is especially important for children who are on their phones or technological devices 24/7 and never go out in
the fresh air. Our school took care of this and arranged field trips for each class. This article is about the tenth-grade students’ field trips, during which three different groups of students went to three different destinations: Bochorma/ Ujarma, Nekresi/ Dolochopi, and Tanas Valley. Students from each trip were interviewed to get more detailed information about how each field trip went.
Trip to Nekresi/ Dolochopi:
The first group went to Nekresi/ Dolochopi assisted by Irina Chkheidze, Nino Mitsishvili, Andres Cruz, and Tina Kvantaliani. The ride to the destination was 2-3 hours long. The first place they went to was Dolochopi, where they observed the ruins of an ancient chapel.
Other than this, Nino Mitsishvili taught the students how to do Daoistic meditations, during which they had to breathe through their hair and spine. The students enjoyed this process and had much fun while trying to meditate.
After spending some time in Dolochopi, the group went on the bus and took a ride to Nekresi. More specifically, they visited a church that was located on a high mountain. The students observed some historical bones of saints in the church, which were put in clear boxes. Besides the bones and the church, the students saw a beautiful view.
Later, after visiting both Dolochopi and Nekresi, the group ate mwvadi with Tonis puri and had a lot of fun- they danced, sang, played football, chatted, and so on. The students arrived at school approximately at 8-9 pm due to the traffic.
Trip to Tanas Valley:
The second group went hiking to Tanas Valley with Misha Elashvili, Ruso Abramidze, and Givi Kereselidze. The ride to the destination was 1.5-2 hours long. As they arrived at the destination, firstly, they went to a fortress where they observed the church and its view of the place. As the church was at a very high point, it had a nice view of the town. After spending time in church and observing its beauty, the group went for a hike in the hills, following the symbols drawn on rocks and trees. The symbols showed the group the right destinations to hike in. The group came across different exciting things, such as Seismometer, a machine detecting earthquakes, various mushrooms and plants, a river, and etc.
After walking 5km, the group had a break on a big field. In that field, some played cards, others just lay down and rested, some ate, and some ran and played. After resting, the group headed back to the place they started hiking from, near a restaurant where the students and the teachers ate food. Both teachers and the students had much fun in the restaurant by chatting, playing chess, playing the piano, singing, etc. In total, everyone walked for almost 10km, and the exhausted group went back to school at 5-6 pm.
Trip to Bochorma/ Ujarma:
Last but not least, the third group went to Bochorma and Ujarma, assisted by Levan Gambashidze and Mariam Khidesheli. Firstly, they decided to go to Bochorma. In order to visit Bochorma’s fortress, the group had to hike to reach their destination. Even though the hike was very long and exhausting, both students and the teachers had much fun while hiking: they chatted, made jokes, observed things around them, and so on.
As they finally reached their destination, the group visited a church and a fortress. Both of these sights were very interesting as Both Levani and Mariam mas told different stories while observing the sightings.
After visiting Bochorma’s church and fortress, the group headed to another destination- Ujarma. On the way, the students got very hungry and took a break. As they did not have any restaurant to go to, they ate the food they brought themselves and rested for a bit. However, as they finally reached the fortress of Ujarma, they observed it and spent some time there. At last, the group headed back to school in the evening and enjoyed the trip back to Tbilisi as they played games and listened to music on the bus.
In conclusion, all three field trips of tenth graders were very productive and fun. After asking some of the tenth graders whether they would participate again in this type of class activity, most of them responded with a yes. The reasons behind their positive feedback were that they liked going out and exploring new places and thought that this type of activity made tighter bonds between them and made the class closer.
