Will Vashlijvari Landslide Affect the Educational Process at GZAAT?

Salome Mosiashvili

For the past week, many of us have heard the news about a potential landslide in the Vashlijvari area. The news coverage about this has been quite frequent, which gave rise to a mild concern for public safety. Because the landslide is close to AAT many have been wondering how it would affect the students or the educational process if the slope were to move.

At the moment, German specialists have been invited to research the area and the risk factors of the landslide. Right now the slope is separated with a crevice 1 meter long and 2 meters deep. Machavariani street has been closed off for almost a week because of this landslide, but for now, its threat to the public has been declared minimal.

But what would happen if it were to fall? According to Mr. Cruz, the principal of AAT, the landslip will not be of much concern to the school. AAT, contrary to the landslide, is connected with the Lisi Lake plateau, so the school wouldn’t be physically affected if something were to happen. The only change that may be made in the future can connect to the bus routes. The landslide may have an effect on the streets below it and there is no say in which ones will definitely be closed off. This means that the school will continue to function normally regardless of the geological phenomenon.

In conclusion, the Vashlijvari landslide is not a threat to the students or the faculty while we are at the school. Of course, the concern for it shouldn’t disappear until the problem is solved, but there is no additional threat to be worried about when coming to the Lisi area.
