Having some problems? No need to worry, you are not in this alone. These days, everyone, from adults to children, has problems, and teenagers are not an exception. Some of the common teenage problems are: negative body image, low self-esteem, time management issues, family issues, mental health problems, physical health problems, unhealthy social media, academic problems, and more. An anonymous survey was sent out to GZAAT freshmen about their problems and solutions to them.

In the survey, there were three questions. The first question asked about the problem with which they are mostly struggling. The answers with the most votes were “self-esteem problems” and “time management issues”, both with the count of 67.7% of 33 students. 22 students also have problems with their body image and 21 students have mental health issues. Demotivation, stress, and relationship problems were issues that students added to the category “other” themselves. It appeared that out of the questioned students only 15 of 33 have academic problems.

The second question was about how long the students were going through these complications. As shown in the chart, 64.7% of the students have had these problems for more than 10 months. This is interesting because most of the students turned 14 this year, so they’ve been a teenager for not that long, but they’ve still been struggling with so many problems.

The last question asked about how the students would help their peers with the same problem and what they would recommend. A lot of the students did not know the answer to this question, someone even said “If I had known that, I would not be in this situation, so I can't help.” Six of the students said that talking to people really helps and if anyone needed to talk they were there for them.

Here are some of the other piece of advice that was given to help solve common teenage problems:

“Talking is always helpful, it may not seem like it, but it does help. Talking to your friends, family members, or even trusted adults is good for solving your problems because you never know, they might be going through the same things as you.” - Nitsa Saakashvili

“Stop criticizing yourself, you are perfect the way you are” - Ana Gvasalia

“Please stop comparing yourself to others, everyone is unique in their own way and so are you.” - Mariam Kvaratskhelia

“I would tell them that everything will be fine and every problem has a solution. If somebody has negative body issues, they should know that they are beautiful the way they are. But overall, everything gets better!” - Natalie Gordadze

In the end, it’s important to remember everyone has struggles and all you can do is try to be your best self!
