As new generation of teachers rise, they bring new techniques with which they get students excited and involved. Let us take a look at what modern learning techniques are and how they are replacing traditional schooling.
What are modern learning techniques? And why are they good?
Modern learning techniques are sessions that focus on activity-based challenges. For example, educational websites, videos, or a new class environment in which everyone has a voice. These types of methods develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. They also provide you with an easy experience. “ Most students find it easier to watch videos” -says Kato Tsuladze. She is a physics teacher who has been teaching at GZAAT for two years. Kato also added, “visualization is a big part of learning and can help students understand complicated topics”.
How are modern learning techniques replacing classic schooling?
The new generation of teachers can relate to the current generation’s problems with classic schooling. Because of their experience with learning, they choose what they would have liked or what students like today. They are much more tolerant, in that they consider your opinion. Kato also had something to say about this-“ When I learned in school we had discussions about some topics I am trying to mimic that in a way”
Although modern learning techniques are something to be proud of, like everything else it has its cons. exact science subjects can not have open discussions and are better off with a clear explanation on a blackboard. “when we had the pandemic situation I asked students what type of homework they would prefer. Most of them said they would prefer videos, but some understood texts better and would rather have texts than videos” -added Kato in her interview. She also said she understood text better than videos- “ I would say I prefer reading, but it is dependent on the subject”. Sometimes it’s just a matter of preference.
To sum up, modern learning techniques are starting to gain more and more popularity as new generation of people arise in the teaching and learning fields. The techniques are successful because they focus more on activity and important skill development, and they’re preferred by most students. So far the classes that have begun to operate with these new rules have had a positive result, in GZAAT and in other schools too. Warning old-fashioned teachers! Revolution is on the way.
