Studying effectively is a common problem among many students around the world and has become a larger issue with the circumstances students are in now. Luckily, many different methods and study tips can help these students with more effective studying. Most students can study well without using these tips, but if they considered trying them, they would find studying much easier. Students need to be focused and motivated throughout the day to get work done well and it is scientifically proven that these habits help students to improve their time management, organization skills, and most importantly to make their study process more effective.
One of the most effective ways to improve studying and productivity is the Pomodoro technique. The Pomodoro method is the breaking down of large tasks into short time intervals which are called Pomodoros. The alarm has the most important role in this technique, so you will definitely need one. After you have chosen the task you are going to work on, you have to set the timer for 25 minutes and work on the task without any distractions until the timer goes off. When the timer goes off you take a short break for five minutes and have to get away from the study area to freshen up your mind. After doing 4 Pomodoro cycles, take a break for 20 minutes. During this time you have to limit all distractions since the whole point of this method is to be completely focused on your task for 25 minutes. It’s easier to start doing your work when you keep the commitment short. Although the original timing for pomodoros is 25 minutes, you can change them to longer or shorter time schemes if needed.
The second very effective study method is active learning. Did you know that note-taking is not the most effective way to spend your study routine on? Passive learning may help you to get through the one-week curriculum, but the information won’t be kept inside your brain for no longer than one month. That’s why active learning is much more important; you can use note-taking but then you should definitely follow up with one of the active learning strategies. To consider active learning, students have to do something involving discovering, processing and applying information, not only listening to the teacher or reading & rewriting information. During active learning, it is important to make analysis, discuss, and evaluate a certain topic, text, etc, to fully understand everything well. For example, you can use flashcards and train your brain, and then move to the practicing part to make it more practical and efficient.

From the picture above, we can see that students learn more when they participate in the process of learning. Active learning is a method of studying which depends on both the student and the teacher. This method is often denied by most teachers because it takes more time to organize beforehand and they aren’t able to get a lot of material covered in class.
Both of these methods are scientifically proven to be very effective and I think will be helpful for students at the GZAAT. I know some students are having a really hard time with their time management because of the online lessons. They are left with more time than before and don’t know how to balance time for studying and rest. Students will be able to save more free time to have fun or rest and it will help them become more organized.
