Movie Suggestions for the Junior High Program

Based on our Junior High’s History program, we suggest you watch the movies given below. We believe that these films will give a better understanding of ancient history. Nowadays, filmmaking is at a very high level - movies can portray in detail all the things we can only imagine on our history lessons.

The first movie we suggest is “Exodus: Gods And Kings” starring Christian Bale - This great movie gives us an understanding of two ancient cultures combined, which are Ancient Egypt and the story of Moses, the most important prophet in Judaism. The movie gives us a clear view of how people of Ancient Egypt lived their daily life, from monarchs to slaves. Besides the historical part of the movie, the storyline is also very interesting, telling the story of two brothers, one of them is the heir of the Pharaoh and the second one is an adopted child who is destined to change everything for Jewish people with God's help.

The second suggestion is the film “Gladiator” starring Russel Crowe. This is a breathtaking historical Drama. The film takes us to the Ancient Roman Empire in the time of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. Along with an exciting storyline, we can see all the hierarchical structure the whole empire was based on. There are also many things in the movie that we think, might help everyone to discover more good aspects that make us humans.

The third Film is “Prometheus” by Ridley Scott, this is a Science Fiction movie, which explains one of the options of how life was born on earth, that it was brought by an alien civilization, by the way, this theory is still considered by many scientists and in the future, it might be proved to be real, who knows. We will not tell any more about this film, in order not to spoil the movie we suggest all lovers of the genre watch and enjoy.
