David Dobrik lost? Charli D’Amelio got hate for winning? The YouTube Streamy Awards are presented annually by Dick Clark Productions and it recognizes youtubers and their teams for acting, producing and writing. Streamys 2020 were a little bit different from normal ones because main nominations, games and practically the main show was in a bus, yes, they literally were hosting the show from a bus, by two amazing hosts, Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamalodchikova.
Here are some of the winners from the most important categories:
Creator of the year: Mr. Beast
Breakout Creator: Charli D’Amelio
Collaboration: David Dobrik and Justin Bieber
Gaming: Dream
First Person: Emma Chamberlain
Style star: Larray
During the Streamys there were a lot of interesting topics that the hosts and people who were nominated talked about. For example, Black lives matter movement, Australian fire and other important things that defined 2020. Compared to 2019 and 2018 when none of the shows had high ratings, one had over 6 million views. This year people liked Streamys and winners of some of the categories. Special guest appearances were made by James Charles, David Dobrik, Liza Koshy, Brent Rivera, PatrickStarrr, Mr. Beast, Charli D’Amelio and others.
The google forms were sent out to get some thoughts from the school community. Do people agree with the results and how the committee votes? What do they think about the Streamys as an award show? Let’s see the results. In the question do you know the Streamys, most of the students answered no, because it is still not that popular with a lot of teenagers, despite having a lot of YouTube's favorite influencers.
First category that made the most noise in social media was “Breakout creator of the year” in which Charli D’Amelio took the win. A lot of people have said that Dream deserved the win because he made Minecraft a lot more popular than it was, some of the people thought that this category would be fair to be excluded from the show. This is how some students from the school have voted (chart no.1). It is a tie between Charli D’Amelio, Dream and none of the choices are relevant.
Also the category “Creator of the year” made a lot of noise, because for the first time in Streamy’s history, people’s favorite appeared to be the one who actually won. Mr. Beast won his first ever “Creator of the year” award and received it from his home. Here is pie chart showing how some of our students voted for this category(chart no.2).

Q: Why do you think awards like these are relevant? Are they still popular?
A: Well, YouTube is a very famous platform that probably all of us use and youtubers are some of the most popular people that many of us know. I think they deserve some awards, because they actually change some people's lives just like actors and singers do.
Q: What should a perfect creator of the year be like? What are the criteria?
A: Perfect creator should have content that won't have one specific audience and will be interesting for everyone.
Q: Do you think Mr. Beast deserved creator of the year? If not, why?
A: I think Mr. Beast is a great youtuber. Even though I'm not a fan or anything I still watch some of his videos from time to time when they pop up in my suggestions. I think that's why he deserves it. The videos are easy to watch and positive.

Q: Is there a specific reason why this award show may be popular?
A: I think what makes this awards relevant and popular are the creators that a lot of people in our generation watch, for example: David Dobrik, Mr. Beast, Damelios, James Charles
Q: What is a formula to be a perfect content creator?
A: The perfect creator of the year should be someone who uploads regularly and who has the kind of content that people enjoy.
Q: Did Mr. Beast deserve to be creator of the year?
A: I think Mr. Beast deserved the creator of the year award because he uploads a lot of quality content and in his videos he does a lot of great things like donating money.
